28 Sep What a FAB-U-LOUS Day!
GOOD MORNING!
How many of you look in the mirror each morning and tell yourself it’s going to be a GREAT DAY! You are excited to start the day and can’t wait to make your day extra special for you and the people around you? How many of you read an inspirational quote or a positive piece of literature? Successful people start their days early and make time for positive energy throughout the day. When you have your most important meal of the day, positive energy is one of the largest helping on the plate.
Starting your day this way will give you the right mindset to keep you focused on being positive no matter what life throws at you. Let’s practice a couple scenarios which might throw you off course.
You are in your car and someone cuts you off. Almost causes an accident. You could shout ***&&&*** or you could say “whew that was a close one” and celebrate how lucky you were.
Another scenario, you walk into the office and the person you like least walks up to you first thing and they start asking you a billion questions, you could reply “I just walked into the office could you give me a minute or two before you start asking me a billion questions!” or you could say “hey Stan let’s grab a cup of coffee, I only have a ½ hour before my first meeting, let’s see if we can answer all of your questions.”
Thinking about these scenarios which would have been your initial response? You own the relationship with your reaction. Relationship with your reaction? What does that even mean? It means you are in TOTAL CONTROL of you. You own your responses both verbally and non-verbally. You own whether you want a relationship with this person or whether you don’t. If thinks aren’t working with you and another person what are you going to do about it? It isn’t ‘their’ problem it is yours. You can’t change them, you can only change how you approach the relationship. What are you thinking when you have to work with someone you don’t really care for? What does your non-verbal language say to the person sitting with you? How are they feeling when they are with you?
Your mindset is the key to building relationships and for moving forward in your career. There are many obstacles you face each day and how you handle them can make or break a relationship. Studies show building trust and relationships give you a bit of wiggle room when you are having a bad day.
